The Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo says it will modernize its fuel terminals at El Alto de Ochomogo in Cartago and in La Garita in Alajuela.
Bids will be sought this month with the expectation that the contracts will be awarded before the end of the year. The
company, the nation’s monopoly petroleum vendor, said that it expected both terminals to be in operation by 2013.
Plans call for four loading stations at Ochomogo and La Garita. The projects will reduce loading time for the largest tankers from 50 to 20 minutes because the flow would double from 300 to 600 gallons a minute, the company said.
