A Costa Rican coast guard crew captured another boat that seems to be filled with drugs.

The action took place early Monday off Punta Burica in extreme southwest Costa Rica. Four persons were detained, two Costa Ricans and two Ecuadorians, said the security ministry.

The boat had a double hull, and members of the Policía de Control de Drogas and the Servicio Nacional de Guardacostas were working through the night to extract the cocaine that had been loaded in the compartment.

As of Monday afternoon, they had recovered 315 kilos but they expected to get much more, said the security ministry.

The open boat, the “Virgin del Carmen,” is 10 meters long and registered in Ecuador, said the ministry.

Last week, a coast guard patrol caused the crew of another drug boat to beach it at Manzanillo on the Caribbean coast. That boat carried 1,730 kilos of cocaine. The four members of the boat’s crew vanished into the local population.
