Tourism chamber board gets new president

The assembly of the Cámara Nacional de Turismo has picked Isabel Vargas Rodríguez to be president of the board of directors.

Ms. Vargas is a lawyer with a master’s in business administration. She is the general manager in the Colinas del Poás, a family operation in Fraijanes de Alajuela. It is an adventure and recreational location with a restaurant that specializes in preparing rainbow trout, which are grown on the premises.

The trouism chamber has a paid
staff headed by an executive director.

Ms. Vargas will serve at least until November.

The chamber has been criticized by a new tourism group, the Asociacion Para La Proteccion Del Turismo.
