Beach hotels reported they were nearly full for Semana Santa, said the Cámara Costarricense de Hoteles. The chamber runs periodic surveys.
Chamber members in Guanacaste said they were at 95 percent occupancy for Holy Week. Hotels on the Caribbean were close behind with a reported 94 percent.
As expected during a vacation period, 14 hotels in the Central Valley reported a lower occupancy.
This year it was 52 percent, and that lowered the average occupancy rate to 72 percent, said the chamber.
In all, 37 of its members responded to the survey, the chamber said.
Hotels on the Pacific reported that they had 84 percent of their rooms filled and those in the northern zone reported 87 percent, the chamber said.
