Officials seek technicalities to use against Avianca-Taca

Officials are looking at the fine print in an effort to force the  Avianca-Taca to reverse a decision to end direct flights from five cities.

The Dirección General de Aviación Civil said it was evaluating the airline’s decision and noted that the law requires prior notice for such decisions.

The tourism industry fears that ending the direct flights will reduce the number of tourists. Some 6,000 to 8,000 passengers a month are affected by the decision.
