Costa Rica signs tax treaty with Ecuador to share data

Costa Rica and Ecuador have signed an agreement to exchange tax information.

Ricardo Patiño Aroca, the foreign minister of Ecuador, was in town to participate in the ceremony.  This is part of the effort that the country is making to comply with rules of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. To do otherwise would cause Costa Rica to be considered a tax haven.

Since 2009 Costa Rica has signed agreements with a number of countries.
