A missing hiker was found alive Thursday in the shadow of Chirripó. The Cruz Roja identified the woman as Rocío Venegas Chavarría who had been missing since Tuesday.

Chirripó is the country’s tallest peak, and the territory is rough. A university student still is missing in this area two years after he vanished.

Overnight temperatures in the area approached 6 degrees C., rescuers said. That’s about 43 degrees F.

Rescue workers from the Fuerza Pública and the Cruz Roja, as well as park rangers participated in the search for two days.
