A legislative committee has agreed to investigate the death of Jairo Mora Sandoval, who was beaten to death early May 31.
Mora is the man who worked at the turtle refugee in Moín.
Lawmakers will not be trying to do a criminal investigation. That is the job of the Judicial Investigating Organization. Instead, they said they would be looking at the actions of governmental agencies and the failure to respond for requests from help by the turtle workers.
The death took place near a refugee which also is on a beach that is known for its use by cocaine smugglers. Before he died, Mora penned columns for the national media that were critical of governmental response.
