The road agency said that the first girders of a new bridge at the entrance to the Heredia community of Barva were installed Wednesday.

The agency, the Consejo Nacional de Vialidad, said that traffic will be halted from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. while the bridge is being constructed. It will be four lanes, much wider than the existing span. There also will be a pedestrian sidewalk with ramps for the disabled.

Work has been going on since April at this spot on Ruta 126.
