The Partido Acción Ciudadana official announced Monday that Luis Guillermo Solís is the party’s presidential candidate.
He defeated Juan Carlos Mendoza and Epsy Campbell for the nomination. The vote by the party’s members was close. Solís got 35.48 percent to Mendoza’s 34.99 percent. Ms. Campbell received 25.10 percent, and a distant contender, Ronald Solís, received 4.43 percent.
The vote was so close that it took a week to release the official count.
Meanwhile the Partido Unidad Social Cristiana confirmed the nomination of Rodolfo Hernández, the former director of the Hospital del Niño, as its candidate.
