Gulf ferry operators told to establish senior discount

The two ferry companies that operate in the gulf of Nicoya have been ordered to come up with a senior discount by the middle of August.

That was the outcome of an appeal brought before the Sala IV constitutional court. The appeal said that the two ferry companies, Naviera Tambor S.A. and Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Transporte Marítimo R.L. had never agreed to a discount even though they are suppose to do so under terms of their concessions.

Naviera Tambor operates ferries from Puntarenas to  Paquera and and Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Transporte Marítimo sails form Puntarenas to Playa Naranjo.

The court noted that the companies had been negotiating since 2005 with the  Consejo Nacional para la Persona Adulta Mayor but without result.
