La Paz waterfall bridge to be open three hours a day

Despite reports to the contrary last week, the nation’s road agency now says that the temporary bridge installed at the La Paz waterfall will be open to traffic three hours a day starting today.

The times are 7 a.m., noon, and 5 p.m., each period for an hour.

This is the road where flooding water destroyed a bridge in the middle of the month.

The waterfall is north of Heredia, and Ruta 126 is often traveled for its natural beauty. The road is between Vara Blanca and San Miguel de Sarapiquí.

The Consejo Nacional de Vialidad, said last week that although the bridge would be in place over the weekend, traffic would not be permitted for two more weeks. The road agency has been under pressure from tourism operators in the north who feel that they have been cut off from their customers. The Consejo still is encouraging motorists to use Ruta 32 instead. It is the main highway north.
