Physician faces allegation of injection gone wrong

Judicial agents detain a medical doctor Friday at her home in San Joaquín de Flores, Heredia, on an allegation that she had injected a substance into the buttock of a patient and caused damage.

The woman, who has the last name of Piedra, was not jailed, said the Poder Judicial. Instead, prosecutors were seeking restrictive measures against her, including a prohibition of doing any surgeries until the case is resolved.

The Poder Judicial said that agents were working on a complaint filed two months ago which related to a surgical procedure in 2011.

Prosecutors were reported seeking others who may have been patients of the physician and suffered any type of damage after cosmetic procedures.
