La Nación journalist received prestigious international award

Giannina Segnini, the head of the investigative unit for the Spanish daily La Nación, has won the prestigious Premio Gabriel García Márquez de Periodismo.

The award, named after the famous author, recognized the high level of journalism produced with integrity and independence, said the Fundación Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano,

Judges were from all over the hemisphere. Ms. Segnini’s team was behind most of the major investigative efforts by the newspaper, including those relating to former presidents Rafael Ángel Calderón Fournier and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Echeverría, the foundation noted.
