More than 800 persons have signed up for the business meeting with Chinese Nov. 26 and 27, said the Ministerio de Comercio Exterior. Those who attend will have a chance to arrange face-to-face meetings with potential Chinese purchasers. Some 100 Chinese are expected to attend.
The event is sponsored by various Chinese organizations and organized here by the commerce ministry, the Promotora del Comercio Exterior and the Coalición Costarricense de Iniciativas para el Desarrollo with support from the Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo.
Business people from an estimated 20 countries will attend, said the ministry.
Costa Rica has a trade treaty with China, and Chinese are interested in constructing a free trade zone here to ship goods elsewhere in the hemisphere.
