Some 400 fire fighters closed the Semana del Bombero with a Mass, a parade, blessing of trucks and the assignment of the vehicles to 11 communities. The value of the fire vehicles is in the $3 million range. Their purchase had been announced. They include vehicles for fighting forest fires and tankers with foam and water. The four-wheel driver forest trucks will be going to Turrialba, Santa Cruz, Parrita, Atenas and Poás. The tankers will go to Tres Ríos, Santo Domingo, Belén, Santa Ana and Pavas. The 11th vehicle, an ambulance, remains in the Central Valley.
