Moderate quake’s epicenter reported to be offshore

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake took place just before noon Tuesday in the Pacific about 21.5 kilometers northwest of Sardinal in Guanacaste.

There were no reports of major damage. The quake happened at 11:28 a.m. The quake was felt moderately as far inland as Upalad as far south as Nicoya, said the Laboratorio de Ingenieria Sismica at the Universidad de Costa Rica.
