70 Costa Ricans to study cloud computing in India

Some 70 Costa Ricans are off to India to study cloud computing through March.

The 70 are beneficiaries of scholarships from the Indian firm Infosys, a major player in the Indian technology business. The firm has interests here.

The participants in the program all have at least bachelor degrees, and some are university professors. They will study in Mysore. They also are English speakers.

This is the first group to receive such scholarships in a program coordinated by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Telecomunicaciones, the Ministerio de Comercio Exterior and the Coalición Costarricense de Iniciativas de Desarrollo.

The commerce ministry said that 10 Indian companies now operate in Costa Rica. The ministry noted that The Times of India recently reported on Costa Rica being a major site for the expansion of Indian technology companies.
