Election workers are packing material, including ballots, for some 6,515 polling places for the Feb. 2 election. They said they expect to have all the material shipped out by early next week.
In addition to ballots for both the presidential and legislative elections, the packages include the ballot boxes themselves, list of voters, crayons for marking ballots, a copy of the election code and posters for the walls.
Some presidential ballots will go overseas where for the first time Costa Ricans living outside the country can vote. Distant Isla de Coco also will get ballots, usually by coast guard vessel.
