Caja plans new emergency wing at Hospital Tony Facio in Limón

The nation’s health provider said Thursday that it was investing 7 billion colons into the Hospital Tony Facio in Limón. That is about $14 million.

The project will be a new emergency service section for the public hospital, said the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social.

There also will be a major investment in changing all the elevators in the entire hospital, said the Caja.

Also on the drawing board are plans for the construction of a pain clinic and a remodeling of the laundry, the Caja said.

There also will be some improvements to the electrical system and also to the air conditioning system in the operating rooms.

The emergency service in Limón sees about 350 patients a day, the Caja said. The bulk are medical cases, but there also are victims of violence.
