Fraudsters seeking payments from community organization

The Dirección Nacional de Desarrollo de la Comunidad is warning community organizations about reports of fraud phone calls from people posing as Dirección Nacional representatives. They are calling development associations and requesting monetary deposits for fees like transportation.

As a caution to workers in these associations and nonprofit organizations who have become victim to these calls of criminal intention, the dirección said it never requests bank deposits in return for its services. Anyone who receives a suspicious call that requests money should alert the Judicial Investigating Organization, the agency said.
