The labor ministry finally has published a list of minimal salaries that contain the wage increases specified for the first half of 2014.

Representatives of labor and those of management met with the Consejo Nacional de Salarios in October and decided on a 3.788 percent increase in the minimum wages starting Jan.1
Nearly 1.3 million employees are in the private sector, and many work for the minimum wage. The wages are specified as daily for some categories. Others are monthly wages.
The long list contains a minimum wage for a variety of job categories. However, professionals, such as physicians, teachers and lawyers, are not included. Strangely, journalists are with a minimum wage in the first half of 2014 of 718,802 colons or about $1,437.
