Robberies and gunplay results in two weekend deaths

Two robbers in Pavas confronted homeowners as they arrived at their house and forced them into the dwelling.

That happened Thursday night about 9 p.m., said the Judicial Investigating Organization.

The crooks made off with jewels and electronic devices worth about $4,000 after locking up those present.

In another robbery case in Bagaces, bandits confronted a woman just as she was entering her home Saturday night. Two men on a motorcycle pulled up between 8 and 8:30 p.m. while the woman was outside the home.

Her husband, identified by the last name of Mora, heard his wife scream and came out of the house.

The bandits shot him dead. He was 42.

Another man, who had the last name of Portillo, died in Hospital San Juan de Dios Saturday afternoon after having been confronted by a man with a gun in  Rincón Grande in Pavas. The man, 19, was on foot when another pedestrian pulled a gun and shot him in the back, said judicial agents.

Saturday night Fuerza Pública officers detained a 20-year-old suspect.

In Sabanilla about 6:30 p.m. Saturday two men with guns entered a pharmacy and stuck up the three employees and the two customers there. The crooks made one employee lower the steel security curtain on the business and then loaded up on medicines, drugs and the available cash.

Then they fled on a motorcycle owned by the pharmacy, said judicial agents.
