Twin earthquakes took place Wednesday at a point about 6 kilometers north of Quepos on the central Pacific coast.
The first was at 7:41 p.m., and it was felt lightly in the Central Valley even though the magnitude was reported at 4.5. The second came at 9:21 p.m. and was felt more strongly even though the reported magnitude was 4.2
The reports are from the Laboratorio de Ingeniería Sísmica at the Universidad de Costa Rica.
Early today at 16 minutes after midnight a 4.4 quake took place just south of Costa Rica in the Pacific near Panamá.
