Fuel prices follow dollar for a 3.9 percent increase

As the dollar goes up against the colon, so does the price of motor fuel. The value of a dollar is a major part of the formula that the Autoridad Reguladora de Servicios Públicos uses to compute the monthly fuel costs.

Motorists will see a 3.9 percent increase in the cost of both plus and super gasoline. Diesel will go up 3 percent, the Autoridad said Friday.

The new prices, once they are published, will be super, 712 per liter; plus 688 per liter, and diesel, 650 per liter.

The agency said it based its prices on an exchange rate of 528.17 colons to the dollar.
