Insurance customers have received a list of rights, the Superintendencia de Seguros has announced.
The rules now state that an insurance customer must receive a response to a question from an insurance firm within 30 days.
The regulations also create a right of privacy for the customer’s personal information and empowers the Superintendencia to field complaints from unhappy customers. The complaint service will be free.
Legislation opening the insurance market to private firms created the Superintendencia as a regulatory agency.
The regulations also say that insurance terminology should be in simple, everyday language.
