Insurance customers have received a list of rights, the Superintendencia de Seguros has announced.
The rules now state that an insurance customer must receive a response to a question from an insurance firm within 30 days.
The regulations also create a right of privacy for the customer’s personal information and empowers the Superintendencia to field complaints from unhappy customers. The complaint service will be free.
Legislation opening the insurance market to private firms created the Superintendencia as a regulatory agency.
The regulations also say that insurance terminology should be in simple, everyday language.
Those with complaints can email the agency at this address, firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 2243‐5108. Also available is a Web page www.sugese.fi.cr.
The list of consumer rights also is available on the Web page.
