The security ministry has put slightly more than a billion colons into a new police headquarters in Cartago. The facility is designed to accommodate 150 persons. The price is nearly $2 million.

The project was a joint one with the Municipalidad de Cartago. The new facility can sleep 70 officers. It also contains cells, a weapons area and meeting rooms. There also is space for administrative personnel, said the ministry.

The Ministerio de Gobernación, Policía y Seguridad Pública is calling the facility the most modern in Costa Rica.
