Quake rattles peninsula

The Laboratorio de Ingenieria Sismica said that a 4.4 earthquake took place at 2:38 p.m. Wednesday about 24 kilometers or about 15 miles southeast of Montezuma on the east shore of the Nicoya peninsula. The quake was felt strongest in Paquera to the north. The monitoring agency at the Universidad de Costa Rica said the quake also  was felt in Jacó across the gulf

The location is in a very active area at the mouth of the gulf.
