$43.5 million road contract rejected by budget watchdog

The nation’s budget watchdog, the Contraloría de la República, has rejected a contract between the Consejo Nacional de Vialidad and the Constructura Sánchez Carvajal, which has been selected to build the San Carlos, Sección Sifón-Ciudad Quesada roadway.

The budget agency said that the state road agency does not have the budget funds available to pay the $43.5 million price tag.

The budget agency called the project important and referred the contract back to the road agency for adjustments.

The Ccntraloría evaluates every major state contract.
