Officer shot in capture of murder suspects

Fuerza Pública officers shot it out with two men Wednesday night in San Juan de Poás, Alajuela.

The agency said that the officers on patrol happened on the aftermath of a dispute where a man identified by the last name of Chinchilla died. He was 21 and suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The two men involved in the murder began to flee in a car and engaged the officers in a firefight. One officer, identified as Henry Solano Sánchez, suffered a bullet wound to the hand. He was lucky because later police confiscated a .40-caliber pistol.

Solano and his partner still managed to chase down suspects and make an arrest.
