Stolen car leads to valley chop shop

Police tracked a Toyota stolen in Herradura near Jacó to a garage in Desamparados de Alajuela and uncovered what they said Sunday was a chop shop where cars were broken up for parts.

The Fuerza Pública said that two men were detained. Both have police records, officers said.

Officers said that the vehicle they were seeking already had the seats removed and was due for disassembly.

The facility also contained a number of other vehicle parts, including tires, fenders and bumpers, officers said.

Agents will try to figure out where these parts originated.
