Lawmakers to suggest fate of magistrate

The legislature has agreed to form a committee to study the case of a Sala Primera magistrate who is being investigated for a crime.

The magistrate is Óscar González, and he faces a list of violations involving a female judge who worked in a role subordinate to him.

The lawmakers voted in secret to name Antonio Álvarez Desanti of Liberación Nacional, Edgardo Araya Sibaja of Frente Amplio and Carmen Quesada Santamaría of Movimiento Libertario to study the case. They gave five days to do so.

The full legislature has the power to remove him from his job.
