Central Valley pair held as Sámara suspects

Investigators have detained a man and a woman in the murder of a bar patron in Sámara. The Judicial Investigating Organization said that the pair, a man of 32 and a woman of 35 surrendered themselves at judicial offices in San José because they learned they were being sought.

The dead man has the last name of Gómez. He died early Sunday.

Police said at the time that the victim was in a bar about 4:30 a.m. when he saw that the purse of a woman nearby was being taken. He chased the thief outside the bar, but he was shot in the chest.

Sámara is on the far Pacific coast. The suspects live in San José said the judicial agency.
