Robotics olympics finals this weekend

Some 300 youngsters will participate Saturday and Sunday in the fifth robotics olympics in the Hotel Crowne Plaza Corobicí. The event is organized by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Telecomunicaciones and Tecnológico de Costa Rica, the Cartago-based public university.

There are various categories from age 7 to 23. The top winners will represent the country in Sochi, Russia, in November.

This year the contest relates to rockets, space stations and a colony on Mars. Youngsters are asked to create on the spot robotic elements for these scenarios. The event is open to the public.
