Next weekend will be a three-day one in the United States. Monday is being celebrated as labor Day, the traditional end to the Northern Hemisphere summer.
The day also provides a wake up call to tourism operators to prepare for high season, which starts in mid-December.
The U.S. Embassy will be closed Monday, and expats here might find that companies and individuals with whom they do business in the north will not be in their offices that day. The holiday is not recognized in Costa Rica, where May Day is the time to honor workers.
