Two commercial chambers related to the tourism industry are calling on the central government to fully establish the Comisión Reguladora de Turismo.
The Cámara Costarricense de Hoteles and the Cámara Nacional de Turismo have both called on Welmer Ramos, the economic minister, to take action so that the commission can operate.
The chambers noted that appointments have been made to the commission but the decree has not been published. The chambers made their request via letter.
The Comisión Reguladora de Turismo plays a major role in negotiating exonerations and special deals for those who would invest in Costa Rica for tourism projects. Without action by the entity, such investments are frozen, said the chambers.
