A 39-year-old Jacó woman with the last name of Sandí died early Tuesday from what appears to be a severe beating.
The woman’s body turned up near the bridge over the Río Tárcoles north of Jacó, said the Judicial Investigating Organization.
The woman was last seen about 4 a.m. walking alone in Jacó, said investigators. They said her body showed bruises and possible signs of suffocation.
The speculation is that the killer tried to eliminate the body by throwing the woman to the crocodiles that inhabit the river.
