Alexander Mora, the minister of Comercio Exterior, is on an extended visit to China.
He also is participated in an international fair for commerce and investment in the city of Xiamen. The theme of the event this year is overseas investments by chinese businesses.
He also is a guest at a World Economic forum event in the city of Tianjin.
The role of a minster of commerce includes promoting the investment by foreign firms in the country. Mora is the latest of a number of Costa Rican officials who have courted Chinese business leaders since former president Óscar Arias Sánchez dropped diplomatic relations with Taiwan in favor of the People’s Republic in 2007.
