Pacific quake felt on the coast

An earthquake estimated at a 4.8 magnitude took place today at 3:23 a.m. about 50 kilometers (about 31 miles) west of Tamarindo on the far Pacific coast.

The quake was felt moderately in Santa Cruz and Nosara, said the Laboratorio de Ingenieria Sismica ast the Universidad de Costa Rica.
