Simplifying procedures mandated

The government moved Tuesday to simplify and make more efficient what citizens must do to conduct official business.

Public institutions and ministries are supposed to designate a high-level employee to be the simplification officer, and the agency must create a plan on how to protect citizens from excessive requirements.

Welmer Ramos, minister of Economía, said he was optimistic that this action would improve use of the government by citizens and firms.

He noted that there will be 65 simplification officers in the country. The annual plan is supposed to be published in the La Gaceta official newspaper and also on the institution’s Web page.
