Newest Nicoya ferry going to the shop

Tambor III is going to Cartagena, Colombia, for maintenance, so the hours for the Puntarenas-Paquera ferry service are being revised.

Tambor III is the new, modern ferry with the largest capacity. The change will take effect Thursday, and normal operations are expected to resume Dec. 10.

Tambor II will pick up the slack and leave Paquera each day at 5 a.m., 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Return trips will be at 7 a.m. 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Ferry service is important for those living or visiting the southern part of the Nicoya peninsula.
