Any motorist who has a vehicle with the numeral 5 as the last digit on the license plate will get a 21,000-colon reminder from traffic police Saturday if the plate has nto been exchanged.
Friday is the last day for the plate to be exchanges for one of the more secure new plates. The exchange can be the same day at the Registro Nacional, or the Correos de Costa Rica will do it with a delay of a few days.
The new plate comes with a special window sticker, too. Vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1, 2, 3, or 4 already should have been exchanged.
Starting Monday, the Registro and the postal service will accept exchanges of license plates ending in 6.
