5,000 items with faked logos confiscated

Judicial police have confiscated some 5,000 items on which popular logos were counterfeited, they said. The agents took over a store near the Mercado Borbón Wednesday. The items confiscated ranged from shirts to billfolds and athletic bags.

The Judicial Investigating Organization said it has received several complaints about such items being sold at various commercial centers in the Central Valley.

Falsifying a logo or trademark is a violation of the intellectual property laws.

Agents said that they also confiscated three devices that were used to imprint the logo on clothing and other items. They also said they had tracked the items with the falsified logos from Alajuela as merchants moved them about.

The items that were confiscated later were on display to the public.
