La Nación S. A. said Thursday that it had reached agreement with Costa Rican officials over a 10-year dispute involving the sale of a printing press.
The case has been an embarrassment for the publishing firm because its competitors frequently produced snearing articles about the case. The publishing firm said that it agreed to pay 1.3 billion colons, about $2.4 million to settle the claim. The case had gone to criminal court.
The company said it already had paid 904 million colons or about $1.7 million nine years ago. So the total amount is about $4 million. The amount includes taxes, fines and interest.
