Officials off to China for refinery talks

Two Costa Rican officials are off to China to negotiate with the China National Petroleum Co. for the modernization of the state petroleum refinery.

They are Edgar Gutiérrez, minister of  Ambiente y Energía, and Sara Salazar, executive president of the Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo, the state fuel company. They will be joined by Costa Rican officials already in China

The Contraloría General de la República raised questions about the original deal that was formulated during the Laura Chinchilla administration.
