Solís seeks to boost entrepreneurship

President Luis Guillermo Solís has decreed a new policy of entrepreneurship which seeks to promote the creation of new businesses.

The president said that he sees the effort as a public,  private and academic alliance. The Ministerio de  Economía, Industria y Comercio also is involved. The president sees the application of high tech as a way to create new products, according to the announcement.

In announcing the plan, Solís said that the decree and the restructured Banca para el Desarrollo are two tools for creating small- and medium-sized new enterprises and quality employment.

Solís called on government agencies to be involved in the project. They are the Instituto Nacional de la Mujer, the Ministerio de Educación Pública, the Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Telecomunicaciones, the Ministerio de Comercio Exterior and the Instituto Mixto de Ayuda Social

Also involved is the Promotora de Comercio Exterior.

Solís described the program as one encouraging internal entrepreneurship. He stopped short of encouraging the easy immigration of foreign entrepreneurs. Spain passed such a program last year in which a two-year entrepreneur visa was created.
