The body in the backseat was a dead giveaway that skulduggery was afoot.
That is why three men ended up under arrest in Pavas early Sunday morning. Officers in a patrol car initially gave chase because the vehicle was traveling fast in a suspicious manner after occupants saw police, they said.
Officers really became interested when someone in the fleeing vehicle put a bullet through the windshield of the patrol car.
Once police stopped the vehicle, the principal interest was on the body wrapped in plastic in the backseat. Officers said that the victim was tied hands and feet.
The chase, a brief fire fight and arrests took
place in Libertad II in Pavas shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. Two men in the fleeing vehicle suffered bullet wounds and were hospitalized.
The Fuerza Pública said that Fonseca was known as Jeason El Gordo on the street and had been arrested at least 15 times, mostly for drug sales.
