Food chamber wants action

The nation’s food chamber is asking the government to take action to improve the competitivity of business, reduce excess regulations and generate employment.

The chamber, the Cámara Costarricense de la Industria Alimentaria, said that the new labor code and the expectation of more taxes creates uncertainty.

Production in this sector only increased 1.79 percent in 2014, the chamber said, adding that this was not enough to create new sources of jobs.
