The nation’s high court has selected a 25-year veteran of the prosecutorial agency for a one-year term as deputy fiscal general.
The individual is Mayra Campos Zuñiga, who is now in the juvenile justice section.
The Poder Judicial said she will fill in when Jorge Chavarría, the current fiscal general is absent. However, the experience will give her access to other possibilities in the judiciary.
Ms. Campos joined the judicial agency when she finished law school at the Universidad de Costa Rica when she was 21, the Poder Judicial said. Since then she has held a number of positions and even earned a doctorate.
The Spanish title for her new post is fiscala subrogante.
