United Airlines has added four red-eye flights a week from Juan Santamaría airport to Houston, Texas. The flights will leave at 1:45 a.m. Friday through Monday, the company said.
United now operates 85 flights a week from San José to Houston, Washington/Dulles, Newark and Chicago.
Tourism officials think that the new flights will be an advantage during the high season. The flights also are expected to help the management of the Juan Santamaría airport, Aeris Holding Costa Rica, continue with its plans for 24-hour operations.
